    Underground Potential

    April 21, 2016

Adv. Anat Sterenlib-Molkho was interviewed by the real estate section of The Marker, for an article about the increasing use of basements for residential purposes.

Attorney Molkho elaborated about the licensing process for permitting the issuance of building permits for the construction of basements, addressing the permitted uses of them.

Among other things, Adv. Molkho expressed her opinion about the present housing shortage, that should allow the possibility of residential basements be seriously examined in appropriate cases, while ensuring proper quality of life for residents.

This also calls for examination of the possibility of increasing density in residential areas in terms of urban planning (municipal services, roads, parking facilities, etc.) and of ensuring proper handling of possible health hazards in residential basements (e.g. lack of light, moisture and dangerous levels of radon gas in the ground).
